Finishing a Panama Hat

Trent starts with a hand-woven hat body and then selects the style of block.
Steam is used to mold the hat body to the selected block.
Some hat blocks come in two parts, this is more common on this style of hat.

Next the brim is flanged.
The breakline is established.
The sand bag press is then used.

The sweatband is sewn in.
The hatband is sewn in.
Special irons and molds are used to form, or roll, the edge of the brim.

The final step is to crease the hat to the style and desired effect.
